The Truezoos and Waylon Speed at The Blue Mermaid Island Grill

In a couple weeks, The Truezoos will be splitting the bill with Waylon Speed, a country rock ‘n’ roll band from Vermont that we had the pleasure of playing with at our O’Brien’s Pub show in Allston.

The Blue Mermaid, is a restaurant that serves Caribbean style food. I have only heard great things about this place. We wanted to book a show at a restaurant on a Saturday night so everyone can come early to eat, and stay late to drink.

In general, Portsmouth is a fun town, so, we’re looking forward to this show. This will be our last show in May, so don’t miss it!

The cover charge is $5.00, no one under 21 admitted.

Monkey Knife Fight to Split the Bill with The Truezoos at Furey’s Café

Through the video battle of the bands hosted by Patch, The Truezoos virtually met the band Monkey Knife Fight; a rock ‘n’ roll band from the Merrimack Valley.

The Truezoos have been looking for a band to split the bill with for the May 4 show at Furey’s, and, after nothing else panned out, we thought we should ask our competitor, Monkey Knife Fight, if their interested in opening the show, and they said yes.

Monkey Knife Fight plays from 9:00p to 10:30p. The Truezoos play from 10:45p until whenever. So, come early and stay late!

But, before that show happens, be sure to check us out this Friday at Paul’s Pub in Methuen, and this Saturday for Earth Jam at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH.

The Truezoos Now Playing at North Shore Open Mics

In an effort to make The Truezoos a household name in the north shore, the boys and I decided to start performing at open mics during the week. Currently, our focus is on the Salem area.

On Monday, The Truezoos played at O’Neill’s Pub in Salem at an open mic organized by our friends, Fiddle Head. The following night we performed at an open jam hosted by Our Own World at The Spotlight Tavern in Beverly. These open mics will happen every week regardless of whether The Truezoos play or not, so, please go out and support the performers.

Check The Truezoos’ Facebook page the day of an open mic to see if we will be performing.

In short, the open mic lineup for the week is:

  • Mondays: O’Neill’s Pub in Salem
  • Tuesdays: Spotlight Tavern in Beverly

A couple Friday’s from now on April 27, The Truezoos will be splitting the show bill with the Jimmy Johnson Files (JJF) at Paul’s Pub in Methuen. This will be the first time either band plays Paul’s Pub and with each other.

JJF is a funny, rock ‘n’ roll band from Beverly. They’re a three-piece band, just like The Truezoos. The connection between the two bands is through the drum kit; Jeff and JJF’s drummer, Dan Goldberg, have known each other for years. They even filled in for each other in the bands Bat Cuntry and the Guns N’ Roses tribute band, Cocaine Tongue.

The following morning, The Truezoos are waking up and heading up north to Plymouth, New Hampshire to play in the fifth annual Earth Jam.

Fifth Annual Earth Jam at Plymouth State University

Saturday, April 28, The Truezoos will be performing at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH for the fifth annual Earth Jam. We take the stage at 4:00pm and will play for an hour.

Special thanks to Sammie Orlando for organizing the event and Molly Darisse for creating the flyer!

Thanks for the Support at The Precinct

Thanks to everyone who came out to The Precinct Bar on Friday to show support for The Truezoos and the other bands that played. With the exception of one drunk fan who accosted Marc and Sean in mid-song, we were treated with respect and want to play there again soon.

We especially had fun meeting Golden Boy, who, were 3 1/2 weeks into their national tour. They’re on their way back home to Los Angeles.

Our next show is this coming Saturday, April 7th at The Lafayette Club on 11 High Street in Amesbury, MA. Tickets are $15.00 and will be put towards Angela Brown for her participation in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
